One meaningful memory connected to food is when I helped my family cook a big Sunday dinner, especially making a dish that had been passed down through generations. While we cooked, stories were shared about where the recipe came from and who used to make it, which made me feel connected to something bigger than just that moment. Sitting down to eat together afterward made me realize that food carries history, tradition, and love. That experience shaped my understanding of family and belonging by showing me that culture isn’t just taught it’s lived through everyday moments like sharing meals and keeping traditions alive.

The writing process played a major role in strengthening my final essay because each step helped improve a different part of my work. Brainstorming helped me come up with my main idea and direction, while drafting allowed me to get my thoughts down even if they weren’t perfect. Revising made a big difference because I was able to fix weak points, add better explanations, and improve how my ideas connected. Proofreading helped me catch small mistakes and make my writing clearer. Through this process, I learned that one of my strengths is expressing my main ideas, but I still need to work on organization and making my analysis more detailed. Overall, the process showed me that strong writing takes time and effort, and each step helps make the final essay better.

Drafting is an essential step in the writing process because it gives me the chance to develop and refine my ideas instead of trying to make everything perfect on the first try. From my own experience with this essay, drafting helped me realize that some of my ideas weren’t fully explained and that my organization needed improvement. When I first wrote my draft, I noticed that certain points didn’t connect well to my thesis, which showed me where I needed to add more detail or rearrange my paragraphs. Drafting allowed me to fix those weaknesses and make my writing clearer and more focused, which wouldn’t have happened if I went straight to a final version.

When I reflect on my essay writing process, the part I struggle with the most is organizing my ideas into a clear and logical structure. I often have good thoughts and examples, but putting them in the right order so everything flows smoothly can be challenging. On the other hand, I feel most confident when it comes to developing a strong thesis and expressing my main ideas clearly, because I usually know what I want to say and can explain my opinion well. The difficult part is making sure each paragraph connects back to my main point and supports it effectively. One goal I have for improving my essay writing skills is to spend more time creating outlines before I start writing, so my ideas are more organized and my essays are easier to follow.

Right now, my top three college choices are Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University. I am attracted to the first because it offers strong programs in the field I want to study and has a supportive campus community. The second appeals to me because of its location and opportunities for internships that can help me gain real-world experience. The third stands out because of its campus culture and clubs, which match my interests and would help me grow both academically and personally. Even if I end up considering other options, these schools are where I see myself learning and thriving.

During brainstorming, the strongest idea I came up with for my essay was the one that I could relate to the most personally. I chose it over the others because it felt easier to explain and gave me more examples to write about. When a topic connects to my own experiences or opinions, it makes the writing process more interesting and helps me express my ideas more clearly. That’s why this idea stood out the most while I was planning my essay.

After completing the assignments on making college affordable and finding the best college fit, one thing I learned is that there are many scholarships and financial aid options that can help reduce the cost of college. I didn’t realize how many opportunities are available if students take the time to research and apply for them. This information is important for seniors to understand because college can be expensive, and knowing about financial aid can help them make better decisions and avoid unnecessary debt while choosing a school that fits their goals.

After reviewing and revising my literary argument paragraph, I made several changes to strengthen my writing. I clarified my claim so it was easier to understand and made sure my evidence clearly supported my main idea. I also added more explanation in my analysis to show how the evidence connected to my argument instead of just summarizing the text. Revising helped me organize my ideas better and make my paragraph clearer and more effective.

It is important for students to write essays in their own words because it shows their true understanding of the topic. When students use their own thinking, they learn how to explain ideas, form opinions, and improve their writing skills. Writing authentically also helps teachers see what students actually know and where they may need help. If students rely on artificial intelligence instead of their own ideas, they miss the chance to grow as writers and critical thinkers.

While working on the literary argument paragraph about Wild, the most challenging part for me was moving beyond summary in the analysis. It was easy to explain what happened in the story, but it was harder to clearly explain how the evidence supported my claim about discomfort leading to personal growth. I had to think more deeply about the meaning of the events instead of just describing them. This helped me understand that strong analysis explains why the evidence matters and how it connects back to the main argument.

Writing essays can be both engaging and challenging for me. I enjoy expressing my ideas and explaining my opinions on different topics, especially when the subject is interesting or something I can relate to. One of my strengths as a writer is being able to clearly share my thoughts and support them with examples. However, I sometimes find it challenging to organize my ideas and make sure my essay flows smoothly from one paragraph to the next. For example, there have been times when I had good points but struggled to connect them clearly. In the future, I would like to improve my organization and spend more time planning my essays before I start writing.

After viewing your classmates' digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Working on the simile and metaphor worksheet, the topic that challenged me the most was writing about my personal struggles. It was difficult because putting my feelings into figurative language made me think more deeply about my experiences than I expected. At first, I wasn’t sure how to turn those emotions into creative comparisons. To work through the challenge, I tried to focus on simple images and ideas that represented how I felt, which helped me create clearer similes and metaphors. Next time, I would spend more time brainstorming different comparisons before writing so it would feel easier to express my thoughts.

While creating similes and metaphors about my struggles and growth, I realized it helped me think more deeply about my experiences. Comparing challenges to things in everyday life made it easier to explain feelings that are sometimes hard to put into words. I learned that even difficult moments can show how much I have grown and become stronger over time. The process helped me reflect on my resilience and reminded me that struggles can also be part of personal growth. [;/

Over the break, I spent most of my time relaxing and catching up with friends and family. I played video games, watched movies, and got outside a few times to enjoy the fresh air. One thing that stood out was spending more time with people I don’t always see during the busy school weeks. I also tried to get more rest and clear my mind before coming back to school. The break helped me reset and feel more ready to focus on my classes again.

If I had to describe how I show love using three objects, I would choose a playlist, a hoodie, and a late-night snack. A playlist represents how I like to share music that reminds me of someone or matches how they’re feeling, showing that I pay attention to what they like. A hoodie represents comfort and protection, because giving someone your hoodie means you want them to feel warm and safe. A late-night snack represents being there for someone even during small moments, like staying up late talking and sharing food. Together, these show that I express love through thoughtfulness, comfort, and spending time with the people I care about.
